Giada doesn’t make a mess of Isabella’s kitchen news

Adorable chef Giada De Laurentiis is coming out with a new cookbook this month, and making two stops in D.C. to promote it. The book, “Weeknights with Giada: Quick and Simple Recipes to Revamp Dinner,” comes out March 27, with De Laurentiis conducting a signing at the Arlington location of Sur La Table at noon on March 31, with a follow-up talk at Sixth & I Synagogue in at 8 p.m. that night.

It’s probably best that De Laurentiis’ appearance comes after Mike Isabella‘s announcement Tuesday that he plans to open a third and fourth restaurant in D.C. You see, the last time De Laurentiis was in town she accidentally let the cat out of the bag that Isabella was opening a second restaurant, Bandolero, in Georgetown. Her admission messed up team Isabella’s carefully crafted plan to give an exclusive to the Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema.

This time Sietsema got his scoop, reporting Tuesday morning (a full nine minutes before the rest of the press got the details) that Isabella would be opening Kapnos, a Greek place that has long been rumored to be coming to the 14th street corridor. There’s also plans to open up a sandwich shop, called G, next door.
