On Thursday, Barry McCaffrey told the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs that the president’s plan to surge troops into Iraq was “a fool’s errand.” He went on, “Our allies are leaving us. Make no mistake about that. Most will be gone by this summer.” Well it turns out it was McCaffrey who was mistaken. From Defense News:
Britain’s senior representative in Iraq on Jan. 19 said British forces will remain in Iraq through 2007 and perhaps into 2008 if the Baghdad government asks for continued help.
