One of the women who has accused President Trump of sexual misconduct officially secured the Democratic nomination for an Ohio state legislature seat Tuesday night, after running unopposed in the primary.
Rachel Crooks was a receptionist at Trump Tower and claimed Trump kissed her without her consent in the building. Her allegation first emerged before the 2016 election, but resurfaced in February after the Washington Post published a story detailing her recollections of the incident.
Trump has denied the accusations and questioned who would behave in such a manner with security cameras operating.
“A woman I don’t know and, to the best of my knowledge, never met, is on the FRONT PAGE of the Fake News Washington Post saying I kissed her (for two minutes yet) in the lobby of Trump Tower 12 years ago. Never happened! Who would do this in a public space with live security cameras running,” Trump tweeted in February.
In response, Crooks urged Trump to release the footage from the day and location the encounter allegedly occurred.
“Please, by all means, share the footage from the hallway outside the 24th floor residential elevator bank on the morning of January 11, 2006,” she said in response on her campaign Twitter account. “Let’s clear this up for everyone. It’s liars like you in politics that have prompted me to run for office myself.”
Trump has denied sexual misconduct allegations levied against him by more than a dozen women.
