Barney Frank better watch out; Frank Underwood kills congressmen who act out against him.
The former Democratic representative from Massachusetts said in a video for Business Insider that the Netflix political drama “House of Cards” is a “terrible show.”
“No one should take that as remotely serious,” Frank explained of the wildly popular series. “It is the kind of thing that debases people’s view of politics.”
“I would say this,” Frank continued. “If people think it is remotely realistic, who is [Frank Underwood]? He isn’t anybody. There’s never been anybody so morally loose.”
Perhaps Barney should have a conversation with former President Bill Clinton, who — according to “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey — believes that the program is 99 percent accurate. In fact, Clinton and Obama are fans of the television show.
Frank continued his rant about the series, claiming that an ambassador to another country once told him, “Oh, don’t tell me about human rights. I’ve watched ‘House of Cards.’ I know how bad it is in America.'” He cited this as an example of how the show is bad for the United States.
The former congressman also hypothesized that the Netflix program could negatively impact voter turnout in the country.
“If you believe that this bizarre horror story of ‘House of Cards’ has any resemblance to reality, then you probably are less likely to participate [in elections], which is not a good thing for society,” Frank alleged.
This certainly isn’t the first time that Frank has expressed his criticism about the show. In fact, he penned an article in the Portland Press Herald back in 2013 explaining his beef with the show.
“House of Cards” just premiered its third season, and Netflix has already announced that the show has been renewed for a fourth.
I guess we won’t catch Barney Frank binge-watching it in his living room.
