Sen. Tim Scott, the only black Republican member of the Senate, tweeted a one-word response to a Twitter user who called him a “House n—-a.”
“Senate,” Scott, R-S.C., tweeted back.
The user was referring to Scott’s and longtime Jeff Sessions aide William Smith’s support for the Alabama senator’s nomination as President-elect Trump’s attorney general.
The user’s original tweet was deleted a short time later.
Scott fielded accolades on Twitter for his response.
