RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Packaging machinery company Weightpack Inc. is moving its headquarters from Italy to Virginia.
Gov. Bob McDonnell said Thursday that Weightpack’s headquarters will be located at its operation in Powhatan County. The company also plans to expand the production facility.
Weightpack will invest $2.6 million in the project and create 35 jobs.
Weighpack CEO Gianguida Corniani says the decision to move the headquarters to Virginia reflects the company’s believe that the United State will continue its leadership role in high technology.
The company designs, manufactures and assembles highly precise net weight fillers, filler/capper lines, and customized systems for the packaging industry.
