A man hit by a Red Line train at Friendship Heights on Monday afternoon remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday, according to Metro. The 41-year-old Northwest man was hit by an inbound train around 4 p.m. in what investigators believe was an accidental fall from the platform, said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel. The man, whose name was not released, had to be rescued from underneath the train and the accident tied up service on the line for hours. It was not immediately clear why he fell. Accidental falls onto the track bed have killed at least four people on Metro in just over two years. — Kytja Weir
