Howard County health officials are warning residents to avoid contact with a Laurel stream after 23,000 gallons of sewage overflowed.
The county?s Bureau of Utilities was notified Tuesday of an overflowing manhole behind a group of homes in the 9500 block of Linville Avenue near North Laurel Road, health officials said.
The overflow appeared to impact the nearby stream, health officials said. The few nearby homes will likely not be impacted by the overflow.
Utilities officials removed the blockage, and applied lime to the manhole area and pool of water, health officials said.
