CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Walking the Got Your Six event red carpet Wednesday night, actress Eva Longoria said she hoped for foul weather in Charlotte Thursday. “I just hope tomorrow it rains just because we canceled the big stadium and that was so disappointing for so many people there,” the “Desperate Housewives” star told reporters. Longoria, who serves as a co-chair of President Obama’s campaign, will be his warm-up act Thursday evening, now taking place at the Time Warner Cable Arena instead of the Bank of America Stadium because of the threat of bad weather.
Longoria listed a roster of female Democrats when asked who she looked to for guidance for her convention speech. “There have been so many amazing women speaking here,” she told Yeas & Nays. “Sandra Fluke was amazing tonight, Elizabeth Warren, who I’ve always looked up to for what she’s done with consumer protection, Lilly Ledbetter, of course, I got to see her speak, I got to see Cecile Richards speak from Planned Parenthood,” Longoria said. “There are so many amazing women who have been at this convention and we really had a voice.”
She also applauded two of the guys — San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, the first Hispanic DNC keynote speaker, and President Clinton. “As a fellow Texan, as a fellow Hispanic, as a fellow American…it gave me goosebumps, I was so proud,” she said of Castro. “He can really speak to the American people in a way that’s so relatable and people understand it and it’s not overwhelming for people,” she said of Clinton, who delivered the convention’s keynote address Wednesday night.
