Marco Rubio added more support from South Carolina elected officials with Rep. Joe Wilson saying he voted for Rubio in the state’s Republican primary.
He “is somebody who can bring a positive change, which is needed, to Washington,” Wilson told the Charleston’s Post and Courier.
“I also appreciate his stand for strong national defense,” Wilson said.
Wilson praised Rubio’s defense of George W. Bush against Donald Trump’s criticisms.
“He said how grateful he is that, on 9/11, how fortunate we are that it was President George W. Bush, not President Al Gore,” Wilson said.
Wilson is best known for shouting at President Obama during a joint session of Congress. “You lie,” Wilson yelled, while Obama outlined his healthcare reform plan.
