White House turns to the blues

Mick Jagger will perform at the next “In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues” — which has some in the blogosphere scratching their heads, as the Rolling Stones frontman is not primarily known as a blues singer. But he’ll be one of the biggest names onstage at the White House’s event on Feb. 21, playing alongside some heavy bluesmen including B. B. KingBuddy GuyKeb Mo and Gary Clarke Jr. Trombone Shorty — in a program paying tribute to the blues and its influences on everything from jazz to soul to rock’n’roll. The program will air on local PBS stations Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
