Former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo has died at age 82, multiple major news outlets reported Thursday night.
Cuomo served three terms in New York state’s top office, from 1983 to 1995, and was the father of current Gov. Andrew Cuomo. A Democrat, he also was a national political figure, delivering a keynote speech at the 1984 Democratic National Convention in San Francisco.
The ex-governor had recently been in the hospital for a heart ailment, CNN reported. Another of Cuomo’s sons, Chris Cuomo, works for the TV network.
