Running from woke genderism

There are obvious physical differences between men and women that affect their athletic performances. That’s why male and female athletes are placed in separate divisions and teams and judged by different standards. These standards guarantee that everyone is given a chance to compete — but in a fair way.

Gender ideologues are trying to gut athletics of these differences by allowing so-called “gender identity,” rather than biological sex, to dictate how athletes are divvied up. The most egregious example of this was male swimmer Lia Thomas’s participation in the NCAA women’s swimming championship. A less offensive but equally as idiotic example is the Boston Marathon’s decision to create a new category for “non-binary” runners.

Organizers for the race announced this week that, for the very first time, runners signing up to participate in the race will not have to identify themselves as either male or female. They can instead submit an entry application as a “non-binary” runner.

The distinction between male and female runners in the race is important since male runners are judged by tougher qualifying times than their female counterparts. Notably, “non-binary” runners will be held to the same qualifying times as women, according to the organization, which means men who want to skirt past the stricter standards could very well register as “non-binary” to get a leg up.

“With this being our first year, we do not yet have enough data to establish non-binary qualifying times,” organizers said. “Therefore, we will use the [female] times listed here, as they are inclusive of the qualifying times for the two existing divisions. As we prepare for future races, participants can expect non-binary times to be updated accordingly. We view this first year as an opportunity to learn and grow together.”

Who benefits from this decision? Certainly not the men, who will have to work harder than members of their own sex simply because they acknowledge that they are, in fact, men. And definitely not the women, who are being forced to share their qualifying times with athletes who may very well have a significant physical advantage over them.

The only winners in this scenario are the woke activists who are hell-bent on infecting everything and everyone with their noxious ideology. It’s well past time we stopped letting them make the rules.
