Last Friday Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, was indicted on abuse of power charges and on Tuesday he turned himself in to Travis County authorities. Now the Texas Republican is hitting the road.
On Thursday, Perry plans to speak at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., on immigration and on Friday he has plans to be in New Hampshire, a key battleground state for presidential candidates.
Tuesday’s event in Texas seemed more like a political rally as Perry spoke to a crowd of supporters. He has insisted the charges are politically motivated and he’s tackled the issue head on. On Tuesday, Perry’s newly-created super PAC, RickPAC, released an ad on the indictments.
