Sculptor Mark Parsons works with student Aiman Iapalucci, 16, of the District, with her concept combining art with science for her relief sculpture as part of a two-day workshop with VSA Arts. The workshop at the nonprofit Arlington Arts Center last weekend grew out of “Portrait of an Artist-Scientist,” a cross-disciplinary educational resource released by VSA Arts and Weekly Reader in the fall. The two groups partnered on the resource to help teachers educate students to make connections and learn across subjects. VSA Arts is an international nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities participate in the arts.
