Alexandria mayor injured while boarding Metrorail

Alexandria Mayor and Metro board member Bill Euille was injured while using the transit system to reach Thursday’s Metro board of directors meeting.

Euille fell while boarding a train at the Braddock Road Metrorail Station, according to Chairman Peter Benjamin, who made the announcement in the middle of  the meeting.

Benjamin said Euille fell in a way that his body was both inside and outside a Metrorail car, and was taken to an area hospital for ligament damage. Benjamin said Euille would require an operation.

“This hits close to home,” Benjamin said.
