The Clinton campaign, which has tapped every supportive star and 2016 issue to raise money, is slamming Donald Trump for using a winning poll to fundraise.
And campaign manager Robby Mook is doing it in a fundraiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Mocking a CNN poll showing Trump ahead 45 percent to 43 percent, Mook said that the GOP “strategy actually could work.”
And for good measure in his fundraising letter attacking Trump fundraising, he included a copy of Trump’s fundraising note off the CNN poll.
See the point, counter-point below:
This morning, CNN released a new poll that showed Donald Trump up by two points nationally, and his campaign is already using that number to raise money.
This is how you build momentum. You find a poll that shows you with a lead (any poll!), use that poll to raise more money, spend that money to boost your numbers in the polls. Rinse, repeat.
This kind of strategy actually could work if we don’t stop the Trump campaign in its tracks and regain the momentum in this race. We’re counting on Hillary’s best supporters like you to step up and show which candidate’s really got the most grassroots energy — can you chip in right now? When you do, we’ll send you a free sticker as a thank you:
Thanks — now let’s hustle.

Thank you.
With just 9 weeks left until Election Day, Donald Trump is now leading Hillary Clinton 45% to 43%.
Trump’s lead comes after demonstrating statesmanship in his trip to Mexico, delivering a strong speech on illegal immigration, speaking before veterans in the American Legion, and listening to the needs and concerns of the people of Detroit.
While Trump continues to act like a leader, Hillary continues to hide from the press EVEN as more and more damaging evidence piles up in her ongoing email scandal.
But the fight’s not over. We can’t get complacent. This is the time to kick into high gear and DOUBLE our 2-point lead into a 4-point lead.
Contribute $100, $65, $50, $25, $15, or even $10 now to help Trump double his lead against Hillary.
Thank you,
