Chris Christie shuts down a heckler

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie shut down a heckler in New Hampshire on Tuesday night who challenged Christie to “ban fossil fuel extraction.” Christie chastised the heckler and called the interruption “silly.”

“No, I won’t. I won’t ban fossil fuel extraction because it’s stupid to ban fossil fuel extraction,” Christie told the heckler. “And I have to tell you the truth, I’ve seen this performance a number of times. A number of times, the performance where you all get up and you yell and all the rest of it, and you’re not doing your cause any good because the minute you start to act that way people stop listening.”

Christie also told the heckler “no one’s here to see your show” and added that the woman should have just asked a question and not placed hecklers at various spots throughout the room.

“You’re young and this is a new process to you and I respect that you’re here and I wish that you would have just gotten up to ask a question and I would have been happy to answer it for you,” Christie said. “But I will guarantee you, if you want to put on a show for me, you can be guaranteed of one thing: This ain’t my first rodeo. And I’m happy to put on a show for you, too. And my show will be a hell of a lot better than yours is.”

The governor then moved on to answer other questions as the room in Rochester cheered loudly. Christie ranks fourth in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings.
