Officials estimate that 12,700 people biked to work around the Washington region Friday, a new record for the annual Bike to Work Day.
With perfect weather — not too hot, clear skies — the event attracted nearly double the number of riders that it did five years ago. It also had 2,000 more riders than last year. Friday’s Bike to Work day featured 58 pit stops around the region for cyclists to fuel up on food and drinks or check out their bikes.
