Sarah Sanders: ‘Of course’ Trump is running for re-election

White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday that President Trump is running for re-election, and will participate in a fundraiser with top donors at his Washington hotel on Wednesday night.

“Of course he’s running for re-election,” Sanders said during Wednesday’s off-camera press briefing.

The $35,000-a-plate fundraiser at the Trump International Hotel is for Trump Victory, which is a joint committee of the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee. An invitation said it costs $35,000 a person to attend or $100,000 to be part of the host committee.

Sanders said the president is focused first on the 2018 midterm elections.

“Right now, he’s focused on his agenda, focused on the midterms,” she said. ‘It will be the first election he’s raising money for the party. I don’t think that’s abnormal for any president.”
