Comedian Michelle Wolf said she’s thankful President Trump won’t be attending Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, where she will be performing.
“I thought, oh, thank God, I don’t have to hear him eat,” Wolff told the New York Times, while noting that she is no fan of the president.
The comedian also said no one will be off-limits during her performance at the annual event to honor White House reporters, which is usually attended by a variety of news reporters, celebrities, and politicians. She explained she believes there’s little value in spoon-feeding the audience jabs at Trump.
“The audience cheers, but that isn’t comedy,” she said. “It’s just a rally.”
While the president will be skipping the event for the second year in a row, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is expected to attend.
