The city of Alexandria is scheduled to hold its first Youth Arts Festival this Saturday, Aug. 14. The free festival will feature live puppet shows and poetry readings, art displays, interactive workshops and other cultural activities. Young artists will also have the opportunity to show and sell their art. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jefferson-Houston School Park at 1501 Cameron St. If it rains, the festival will move inside the Jefferson-Houston School. The festival is co-sponsored by the city’s department of cultural activities. – Markham Heid
