Montgomery County Councilman Roger Berliner, D-Bethesda, will debate his primary challenger, Ilaya Hopkins, Tuesday night at the Lawton Community Center in Chevy Chase.
The debate comes days after council members approved a $4.3 billion budget reliant on about $250 annually in new taxes for homeowners, furloughs of county employees and drastic cuts to county departments.
A meet and greet will start at 6:30 p.m., with the debate to follow at 7.
