Oz medical records show GOP Pennsylvania candidate is in good health

Mehmet Oz released his medical records to prove he is healthy as part of his campaign strategy to keep voters focused on rival John Fetterman’s stroke recovery as the midterm elections loom.

Oz’s doctor, Rebecca Kurth, wrote that the 62-year-old Republican senatorial candidate is in “excellent health,” according to the records obtained by Associated Press.

FETTERMAN AGREES TO DEBATE OZ IN OCTOBER

The records did note that Oz has a “borderline elevated” cholesterol level that can be combated by adjusting his diet. In 2010, he had a polyp, a sometimes-cancerous growth, removed from his colon. A recent electrocardiogram that detects signs of heart conditions showed that his test results are normal, as well.

“Your examination is healthy, and the blood tests are favorable,” the record said.

Fetterman’s campaign has still not released any updates on his condition after he suffered a heart attack on May 13. He admitted in June, one month after his heart surgery, that the stroke was not the first time he suffered symptoms of a heart condition.

However, the Democrat has said in the past that other than some minor problems with auditory processing, he is feeling better and plans to debate Oz in October.

The subject of Fetterman’s health shook up the race for Pennsylvania’s open senator seat, allowing Oz to use it as a selling point for Fetterman being unfit for office.

Oz wrote in a statement that “voters should have full transparency when it comes to the health status of candidates running for office.”

In an editorial written earlier this month, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette urged Fetterman to face Oz onstage.

“If Mr. Fetterman is not well enough to debate his opponent, that raises serious concerns about his ability to serve as a United States senator,” the editorial board said.

A Monmouth University poll conducted Sept. 8-12 showed Fetterman has a 47% favorable to 42% unfavorable status, while Oz has a 36% favorable to 52% unfavorable rating.
