Donald Trump indicted: De Oliveira pleads not guilty to all charges in Mar-a-Lago case

Co-defendant Carlos De Oliveira pleaded not guilty Tuesday to all four felonies he faces in the classified documents case involving former President Donald Trump.

De Oliveira, a property manager at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, appeared at a federal courthouse in Fort Pierce, Florida, for his arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Shaniek Maynard and was accompanied by attorney Donald Murrell, according to a court filing.

His plea comes after De Oliveira’s arraignment was twice postponed because he had been unable to secure local counsel.

After his first court appearance, he was released on a $100,000 bond under conditions that he would not leave South Florida or speak to designated witnesses in the case except through attorneys.

De Oliveira was indicted in July by special counsel Jack Smith on four felony charges stemming from allegations he conspired to delete surveillance footage at Mar-a-Lago last year to prevent federal investigators from obtaining the footage.

Smith alleged De Oliveira also moved boxes that may have contained classified documents to prevent an attorney from seeing them and that he lied to the FBI about the boxes.

The charges against De Oliveira, which included conspiracy to obstruct justice and false statements, came as part of a superseding indictment that included new charges against Trump and his aide Walt Nauta related to the footage.

Smith first charged Trump in the case in June, alleging he illegally kept classified documents after he left the White House. Trump is now facing 40 charges in the case, including willful retention of national defense information, corruptly concealing a document or record, scheme to conceal, and false statements.

He and Nauta have pleaded not guilty to all charges, and a trial is set for May 20.
