Is MSNBC Entitled to Its Own Set of Facts?

If you’ve paid any attention to the debate over where to prosecute international terrorists over the past several weeks, then you’ve probably heard the Obama administration talking point that anywhere from 190 to 300 terrorists have been successfully prosecuted in civilian courts since 2001.

Eric Holder says there are 300, but Byron York can’t verify that. Human Rights First and many on the left say 195, but Andy McCarthy proves that number is exaggerated. The ACLU says 39. And yesterday, Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC claimed 190 (without any citation whatsoever).

Perhaps none of this is important, as Human Rights First responds to McCarthy’s analysis by saying the numbers don’t matter anyway.
