Great Chesapeake Bay Swim The lottery for the popular Great Chesapeake Bay Swim will open on noon Tuesday and stay open until 7 p.m. Dec. 22.
Next year’s swim, which totals 4.4 miles between the twin Bay Bridge spans, will be held Sunday, June 13.
Organizers will select entrants on Jan. 11, with a second selection on Jan. 26 if the swim is not filled.
About 600 swimmers are chosen for the event, one of the nation’s premier open-water swims, with about 550 expected to wade into the Bay on race day.
Swimmers must pay a $250 entry fee and turn in documentation that shows they have completed a one-mile, open-water swim in 40 minutes or less or a three-mile swim in a pool in 2 hours and 15 minutes.
