An elderly Michigan man is accused of fatally shooting an intruder who entered a Flint Township residence Thursday, authorities said.
The intruder, reportedly 31 years old, made his way into the residence around 8:45 p.m. and was confronted by an 80-year-old man with a firearm.

The elderly man fired at least one round, the Flint Township Police Department said.

The intruder died as a result of his wounds, according to a report.

The 80-year-old man was taken into police custody, but he was released Friday as the police continued their investigation, the report noted.
