Jennifer Lopez at Grammys urges musicians to 'go to work' against Trump

Jennifer Lopez called on musicians "to go to work" against President Trump, saying their work can bring healing to "civilization."

Lopez didn't mention Trump by name at Sunday night's Grammy Awards, but the implication was clear.

"At this particular point in history, our voices are needed more than ever," Lopez said before introducing the Grammy nominees for best new artist. "As Toni Morrison once said, this is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, and no room for fear. We do language. That is how civilizations heal."

Lopez's message followed an opening rap monologue from Grammy host James Corden, who advised the audience to "live it all up because this is the best and with President Trump we don't know what comes next."
