Republican Tom Barrett wins Slotkin’s open Michigan House seat

    Former Michigan state Sen. Tom Barrett has won Michigan’s open House race for Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s (D-MI) seat.

    Barrett, who defeated Democrat Curtis Hertel, won with 50.3% of the vote with 98% of the ballots counted so far. The Associated Press called the race at 4:05 a.m. Eastern time.

    Slotkin vacated the seat to run in Michigan’s Senate race against Republican Mike Rogers.
