Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said President Trump's alleged reference to some nations as "shithole countries" makes him qualified to run the Ku Klux Klan.

"[W]e now know that we have in the White House someone who could lead the Ku Klux Klan in the United States of America, somebody who could be the leader of the neo-Nazi, and publish just his words," Gutierrez told MSNBC guest host Joy Reid on "All In With Chris Hayes" late Thursday.

On Thursday, the Washington Post reported that sources from a bipartisan meeting between Trump and senators recalled the president saying Haiti, El Salvador, and some African countries were "shithole countries."

Trump's comment, which he denied Friday morning, was believed to be in reference to the push by some senators to maintain temporary protected status for immigrants from some of those countries.

"Can you imagine any other job in which the CEO, right, could say something and isn't summarily fired from his job? Can you think of any employee walking into any institution in America and saying these kind of deplorable things and not being fired?" Gutierrez added.
