2017 was a ridiculous year. Both the Right and the Left seem to have lost their minds at some point. We at No Things Considered have had to sit through and comment on it all, and have curated what we think are the most ridiculous videos of the year.
Watch, laugh, or cringe along with us as we journey back through 2017 … and if you disagree with any of our choices or our rankings, let us know in the comments. And don’t forget you can watch me skewer the news every night at 7:30 p.m. EST on the Washington Examiner Facebook page.
10. Maxine Waters nearly triggered by Katy Tur
In this clip, Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., mistakenly thinks that MSNBC reporter Katy Tur confuses her with another member of Congress and it gets … awkward.
9. Trump doubles down on Pocahontas
When President Trump wants to troll, he’s going to troll. Here, he refers to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., as ‘Pocahontas,’ and when a member of the audience makes the mistake of saying “That’s very offensive” he doubles down like only he can.
8. Who you callin’ a kook?
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is sick and tired of the media calling Trump a “kook” and "unfit to serve." There’s only one problem, and CNN host Jake Tapper calls him out on it.
7. Pelosi’s ABC’s
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has one criticism of Trump’s first foreign trip as president, and it’s that he didn’t visit the countries in alphabetical order ... No, seriously.
6. 8 long seconds of silence
Roy Moore’s campaign spokesperson Ted Crockett went on CNN with Tapper to set the record straight. In his mind, Muslims couldn’t become public officials because they’d need to swear in on a Bible. Tapper sets the record straight and in doing so leaves Crockett speechless.
5. Just ... NO
The day before the Alabama Senate race, someone thought it was a good idea to have a 12-year-old girl interview Moore and his campaign manager Rich Hobson. This question from her and response from Hobson is just ... No.
4. The most meme-able
Some people took Trump’s inauguration harder than others. This is one of those people.
3. Pepper balls
Protesting was a big part of 2017… and sometimes things didn’t go well for the protesters. This worst-case scenario became a meme for a few weeks when folks added classic hits like Celine Dion’s "My Heart Will Go On" to spice it up.
2. It’s Hammer Time with Lawrence O’Donnell
Leaked footage of MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell screaming about hammering in another room and someone talking about a "Labor Day Special" over his headset is so magically, hilariously bad, that you can’t turn away from watching it.
1. Alex Jones vs. Alexa
In the most epic of intellectual battles, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones interrogated an Amazon Echo on air. Surprisingly, the Echo didn’t crack throughout the entire thing … but you will and you’ll cry laughing.
BBC = Baby, baby, commentator
Professor Robert Kelly went on BBC News to discuss the North Korean threat and was joined by his adorable children, who made BBC News more entertaining than it ever intended to be.
Anthony Scaramucci: Gone too soon
Every glorious second that Scaramucci was the White House communications director was a gift from heaven for a comedy writer. He’s a caricature of a mobster working at the White House. We’re lazy, so you can Google it and find the magic on your own.
Rachel Maddow’s cringy silence
Dare your friends to try to watch this one. In the middle of editing an episode of No Things Considered a few months ago, we noticed that Rachel Maddow takes a lot of deep breaths and long silent pauses in between making points. How much? About 10 percent of her entire show. Just watch.
