Police investigating triple homicide in Detroit home

Police say they are investigating a triple homicide after finding three people dead in a home in Detroit.

The Detroit Police Department said officers located two adults, one male and one female said to be in their 20s and early 30s, and a child around 4 to 7 years old with apparent gunshot wounds in a home just after 5 p.m. Sunday in the 15000 block of Evergreen.

“Every resource we have is going to be dedicated to pursuing and apprehending the person that murdered this baby and the people in this home,” Detroit Police Chief James White said at the scene.

Police said they responded to a call from a family member who found two of the victims after spotting the back door kicked in. The family member said they had not seen or heard from the victims in over a week.

White indicated that the scene was not ‘fresh’ but said the coroner would determine a timeline of their death, calling the scene “very tragic.”

White said that the woman was believed to be the mother of the child. He did not confirm if the male victim was the father but said neighbors say he lived in the home.

Police indicated that they were searching for a suspect following the incident but did not speculate on the circumstances.
