A man in Florida is being praised after footage was released showing him wrestling a bear who attempted to get into the man’s house.
Walter Hickox reacted quickly when a black bear attempted to enter his house through his porch, according to a local report.
“Not a lot went through my head at the moment, other than what’s going to happen if he gets past me and into the house where the rest of my dogs and my wife was at,” Hickox said.

As the bear enters the porch, Hickox can be seen wrestling the animal back through the doorway and grabbing a nearby bench to keep it out.

He suffered some injuries, but the dog in the video was not harmed, the report noted.
Hickox said he would construct a door for the outside porch and keep a bottle of bear spray nearby.

The bear that Hickox bested has not yet been captured, according to the report.
