Small plane crashes outside Los Angeles neighborhood

A small plane crashed into a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley community of Pacoima outside of Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.

The plane attempted to land at Whiteman Airport about 15 miles outside of Los Angeles but overshot the runway, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.

Video showed the Los Angeles Fire Department attending to several cars and a house that caught on fire because of the crash.

The Fire Department said that no one on the ground was hurt, but it remains unclear how many people were aboard the plane and if they survived the crash, according to CBS Los Angeles.

More details will be added to this report as they become available.
