Is this cause for panic among “Hunger Games” fans?
Gary Ross, director of the first in the trilogy based on Suzanne Collin’s best-selling books, will not be directing the second film in the series, “Catching Fire.” The movie is set to be released in fall 2013. Ross’s reason for leaving? Lionsgate tight schedule for getting the ball rolling on the sequel — Ross says he just doesn’t have the time to “prep” for the sort of movie he would want to make. Executives as Lionsgate say they are “shocked.”
No word yet on who might be in line to replace Ross.
