2020 presidential long-shot Marianne Williamson expressed her surprise that the “Left was so mean” and that they “lied like this.”
Williamson’s comments about what she’s learned about the Democratic Party since announcing her candidacy came in an interview with the New Yorker’s David Remnick on Tuesday.
“I know this sounds naive. I didn’t think the Left was so mean. I didn’t think the Left lied like this,” Williamson stated. “I thought the Right did that. I thought we were better.”
Remnick pushed for Williamson to elaborate on her comments.
“Oh, come on, you just mentioned crystal gazing,” she answered. “There is no crystal in my home, David. There’s never been a crystal on stage when I’ve talked. I’ve never told an AIDS patient not to take their medicine. I’ve never told anyone not to take their medicine. I’ve never told anyone their lovelessness created their disease.”
Williamson’s candidacy appears to be on its final stages. She did not qualify for next week’s presidential debate. The qualifications to participate, which are the same for October’s debate, include having 130,000 unique donors and reaching 2% in four DNC-approved polls. Williamson has reached the donor threshold, but needs three more polls in which she reaches the necessary percentage.
