President Trump accused the media of being “fixated” on the claim that he misrepresented the path of Hurricane Dorian and demanded “an apology.”
Last weekend, Trump expressed concern for Alabama saying they were in the path of Dorian, but they weren’t at the time. While early predictions for the hurricane’s trajectory did include Alabama, meteorologists believed it would take the hurricane up the East Coast at the time of Trump’s warning. The president has maintained his belief that the media has unfairly covered this in order to hurt him.
The National Weather Service station in Birmingham put out a tweet after Trump first mentioned Alabama, contradicting the president, saying that the state would not see “any impacts” from Dorian because it was projected to remain too far east.
After criticizing the media for pointing out the mistake multiple times, the president took it a step further by pulling out a map in the Oval Office on Wednesday while speaking to reporters that was doctored. The additional line on the graphic, which appeared to be black Sharpie, supported the president’s claim about Alabama.
Trump once again brought up the back and forth on social media Friday morning.

….This nonsense has never happened to another President. Four days of corrupt reporting, still without an apology. But there are many things that the Fake News Media has not apologized to me for, like the Witch Hunt, or SpyGate! The LameStream Media and their Democrat…..

He tweeted, “The Fake News Media was fixated on the fact that I properly said, at the beginnings of Hurricane Dorian, that in addition to Florida & other states, Alabama may also be grazed or hit. They went Crazy, hoping against hope that I made a mistake (which I didn’t). Check out maps…..” and added, “This nonsense has never happened to another President. Four days of corrupt reporting, still without an apology. But there are many things that the Fake News Media has not apologized to me for, like the Witch Hunt, or SpyGate! The LameStream Media and their Democrat…..”
Trump has tweeted about Alabama ten times since the hurricane formed.
