Widow of slain NYPD officer slams politicians and protesters claiming ‘police are evil’

The widow of a slain NYPD officer slammed politicians and “radicals” for the death of her husband and urged the public to respect law enforcement.

“The man who killed my husband believed the lie told by the politicians and the radicals that police are evil,” Sanny Liu, widow of Wenjian Liu, said during a two-minute clip posted on Twitter. “The men and women of the NYPD are the most compassionate, caring, and giving people.”

Liu’s husband was gunned down along with his partner, Officer Rafael Ramos, in 2014 as they sat in a marked patrol car in Brooklyn. The shooter, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, told bystanders, “watch what I’m going to do,” before opening fire on the officers. He also had a social media account containing anti-police tirades, posts referencing Michael Brown, and a post of a burning American flag.

“The man hated the police traveled and to New York City with the goal of killing cops,” Sanny Liu added in the video. “They were sitting in a car and ambushed. They were simply wearing a blue uniform. There was no other reason.”

“I’m putting wings on pigs today. They take 1 of ours … let’s take 2 of theirs,” Brinsley said on Instagram before the shooting, along with the hashtags “#ShootThePolice, #RIPErivGarner (sic) and #RIPMikeBrown.”

In 2015, more than 40,000 fans gathered at a Mets game at Citi Field in New York City, stood, and cheered when Liu’s and Ramos’s names were displayed on the big screen. They booed the city’s mayor, Bill de Blasio, who many in the city have blamed for the deteriorating relationship between the police and the community.
