Knicks (18-27) at Wizards (15-30)

The most interesting thing about the Wizards today was that Tracy McGrady was at Verizon Center for the Georgetown game. Now, was his visit solely related to the Darfur schools initiative launched jointly by students and alumni of Georgetown and Duke? Hard to tell.

As for the currently rostered Wizards, Flip Saunders threatened to lean on his bench tonight if his starters stink again, as they did last night in New Jersey. The reserves accounted for 43 points. We’ll see if they can do that again.

The weather could also play a role. The Wizards have offered ticket exchanges for tonight’s game due to the inclement weather. From their release earlier this afternoon:

Patrons can take their unused tickets for the Wizards vs. New York game (1/30/10) to Verizon Center Box Office beginning on Monday, February 1, 2010 starting at 10 a.m. and turn in for a ticket to the Wizards vs. Atlanta game on Saturday, Feb.6 (no additional service charge will apply)

Wizards planholders can turn in their unused tickets at the Verizon Center Box Office for the Wizards vs. Atlanta game on Saturday, Feb.6 or redeem their unused tickets for one of the pre-selected exchange games listed in their planholder online guide (season ticket holders will not be required to pay an exchange fee).

I asked Flip about the potentially small crowd: “The Metro is still working so hopefully people can jump on the subway. Either way, we probably got a little bit of head start playing in New Jersey last night because there weren’t very many people there, either.”

NBA.com has the attendance last night at Izod Center as 11,384. Can’t imagine Verizon tops that.
