President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence have begun receiving the same classified daily intelligence briefings — often referred to as “the book” or PDB — as President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Obama had directed that his Republican successor be granted access to the intelligence and national-security materials effective immediately. Trump began receiving intelligence briefings after securing his party’s nomination in July, though the information he received in those meetings was “not at the level of the PDB,” intelligence officials noted.
