Trump stays in DC area this weekend, huddles with Cabinet members

President Trump is staying in the Washington, D.C., this weekend and not heading to his resort at the Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., like he has done several times since the inauguration.

The president’s motorcade traveled Saturday to Sterling, Va., a neighborhood about 21 miles outside of Washington, to visit Trump National Golf Club, according to White House pool reports.

According to CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller, the president journeyed to the golf course to have a working lunch with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, VA Secretary David Shulkin, top White House aides Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus and press secretary Sean Spicer.

During a brief photo opportunity, Trump said was getting updates on homeland security, the military, economy and healthcare matters, Knoller said.

It was reported earlier on Saturday that an intruder breached the White House grounds Friday evening before being apprehended by Secret Service.

According to CNN, Trump told pool reporters that the Secret Service did a fantastic job. He also said the intruder is a “troubled person.”
