CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — The relocation pay Iowa’s revenue director received to help establish a part-time home in Des Moines is being questioned.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/PBXH3K ) Sunday that Courtney Kay-Decker received $8,300 in relocation expenses after taking over the Revenue Department in January 2011.

The questions arise because Kay-Decker received more reimbursement than other state officials hired at the same time and because she spends a significant amount of time working from her family home in Davenport. Kay-Decker averages about 12 days a month in the office.
Kay-Decker says she appreciates that Gov. Terry Branstad allows her to work from home.
Branstad’s office says the Revenue Department has improved under Kay-Decker’s leadership. For instance, the cost of processing a tax return has dropped to $2.52 this year from $4.36 in 2010.
