White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday that President Trump wants members of the press to decide where he donates his presidential salary at the end of 2017.
“The president’s intention right now is to donate his salary at the end of the year, and he has kindly asked that you all determine where that go,” Spicer told the White House press corps.
“The best way to avoid scrutiny is to allow you guys to determine where that will go,” he quipped.
Current federal law says the president’s annual salary is $400,000 per year. Trump promised not to accept that salary during his presidential campaign.
