A bashful Bill Clinton took the stage in California Wednesday while campaigning for his wife, telling an admiring audience member that it had been a long time since a female had complimented him on his appearance.
“You look great!” an audience member told Clinton, when he said he felt young.
Clinton exhaled into his microphone and said that a young woman hadn’t flattered him on his looks in a while.
“It’s been a long time since a girl said that to me,” he said and laughed.
The former president then lamented the inevitable aging process.
“I usually get, ‘you look good for a man your age,'” he said. “That last phrase is a killer.”
Bill Clinton is a practicing vegan.
