CNN’s Chris Cuomo said on-air that the network reports the news “based on who’s in power.”
“State TV’s got some new competition, Anderson; it’s going to be very interesting to see how the narrative unfolds. For people like us, we do the job based on who’s in power. But this is going to be very interesting,” Cuomo told Anderson Cooper on Monday night, referring to Fox News as “State TV.”

The statement comes after President Trump has repeatedly denounced CNN as “fake news” for its coverage of his administration, most notably during contentious exchanges with the network’s White House reporter Jim Acosta.
In 2018, Trump called Acosta a “rude and terrible person,” adding that he didn’t treat then-White House press secretary Sarah Sanders well.
“You are a rude, terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN,” he said. “The way you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible.”
“When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you are the enemy of the people,” Trump added.
On the campaign trail, Trump supporters were often heard chanting “CNN sucks” when they spotted reporters for the network.
This happens at just about every Trump rally. I’ve covered five presidential campaigns… long enough to know this isn’t normal. Sometimes I’ll scan the crowd, not for the folks who are chanting but for the people who look back at me silently, letting me know they know it’s wrong pic.twitter.com/1U2nPi5PQR
