Former FBI Director James Comey thinks President Trump is acting like someone suffering from a bad breakup, based on the way he comments about Comey on Twitter.
“He’s tweeted at me probably 50 times. I’ve been gone for a year. I’m like a breakup he can’t get over,” Comey told Stephen Colbert Tuesday.
“I’m out there living my best life. He wakes up in the morning and tweets at me,” Comey added.
Prior to Comey’s highly-anticipated interview with ABC on Sunday, his first televised sit-down since his dismissal in May, Trump said on Twitter that Comey is a “liar” and a “leaker.”
Trump also said Comey should be jailed for allegedly mishandling classified information.
While Comey’s initial reaction was to shrug off Trump’s online outrage, he reiterated his belief that Trump’s suggestion he be imprisoned should not be tolerated.
“It’s not OK for the president of the United States to say a private citizen should be in jail. It’s not normal. It’s not acceptable,” he said Tuesday.
