DeWitt was a standout receiver at Jefferson High School, the report noted.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police are working to discover a motive for the killing.
“It appears that the suspects and the victim were familiar with each other and when they encountered each other in the parking lot, an altercation took place and then the shooting,” police said.

DeWitt’s mother reportedly claimed a botched robbery led to her son’s murder. “I want him to be remembered as a fierce competitor with a very large heart,” Dawn DeWitt said.
The teenager’s father, Craig DeWitt, said he has forgiven his son’s killers. “Forgiveness is for the forgiver. We don’t want the hate in this household.”
