A 49-year-old man was found guilty of threatening public officials in Montgomery County after he lost a child custody case.

Michael Moment sent threatening letters to State’s Attorney John McCarthy, Judge John Deblius and Judge Thomas Craven saying that “contracts” had been placed on their lives and their family’s lives if any harm came to Moment’s son, authorities said. He also sent threatening letters to the daughter of County Executive Ike Leggett.

He was prosecuted in Prince George’s County to avoid an any possible conflict of interest.
