GLEN JEAN, W.Va. (AP) — The National Park Service has named Patricia Kicklighter as superintendent of the New River Gorge National River in southern West Virginia.
Kicklighter also will serve as superintendent of the Gauley River National Recreation Area and National Scenic River. Her appointment is effective in mid-May.
She replaces Don Striker. He left earlier this year to become superintendent at Denali National Park and Preserve in Alaska.
Kicklighter has worked for the National Park Service for 30 years. She currently is superintendent of Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland and Virginia.
